In the past, Don Meuang (International) Airport was known to be Airfield.

Airfield = Sànăambin = สนามบิน

Airport = Thâa Ahkàadsàyaan = ท่าอากาศยาน

But it is probably much easier to refer to airport as being Sànăambin because…. the number of words used is less than the other one?
